Graph Tech's brand new Ratio Tuners are designed so that each string responds a half step per each half key turn. Yeah, that's what they say.
Check out the ratios in the above illustration. Low E is 39:1, while High E is only 12:1-- with all sorts of variations in between. What an idea! Gear ratios are different with acoustic sets than electric ones. Gotta know your physics of tension/mass/pitch stuff here... I don't.
Apparently these were introduced at Winter NAMM 2013, and still not quite shipping (Today is July 26 - sounds normal).
HOWEVER as I write this, the only 6X1 electric sets available online are in limited quantity through 623 Guitars (eBay Store) based in Cleveland, Ohio. So hurry!
These folks also supply Gorgomyte fret & fretboard cleaning cloth, a product originally developed for Alex Lifeson by guitar tech Jimmy Johnson, who also techs for Peter Frampton, Todd Rundgren & Tommy Shaw. Check out the cheap sample packs.
Kudos to Jon at GuitarNoize blog for the Graph Tech tip! Check him out for gear reviews and artist features!
