German based craft luthier, Frank Hartung's Stradosphere offers Strat lines and pickups by Ray Gerold, also based in Germany. Top end wood, hardware, electronics and mostly craftsmanship reflect all Hartung guitars.

The Fall 2012 issue of Guitar Connoisseur online magazine (issue #2) profiles four German luthiers including Hartung. As a contributor and GC's copy editor, I've been pretty heavily steeped in German guitar building for the last couple months! Check it out, and discover the best small builders in the world. We're already excited about December's Winter issue #3, and have plenty of cool stuff planned through 2013.
