Squier by Fender Classic Vibe 60's - Fine China White

What's up with those Chinese Squier pickups anyway??!

(@Musician's Friend)

You're probably thinking I've really lost it this time, but keep reading kids!

Pictured above is a Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat-- Made in China, and I believe the cheapest Fender production Strat available; at $349.00 street, with the exception of that Starcaster thing they sell at Target stores.

Yessir, how low can I go here today! So everybody limbo down with me for a moment, ok.

Only for a moment though because accidental anomalies on earth are quickly squashed once too broadly discovered. Remember a few years ago when folks were raving about how good some MIM Strats were, and how the MIJ Strats got too good for Fender to market in the USA? Well, we may be seeing this kind of thing again with the China product.

Your mission, if you decide to accept it is to visit a good size Fender dealer or your local Guitar Center-- wherever there's plenty of inventory to sample. Compare the Squier Classic Vibe guitars with the Mexican and American Special Series stuff. Apart from the Squier hardware and any easily remedied set-up aspects, pay particular attention to fit & finish, wood quality and pickups-- especially the pickups. Be sure to plug in to something! If rosewood fretboard models are available, compare the rosewood quality between the Classic Vibe and USA fretboards.

Pay attention now, and stay objective. This is all I have-- the rest is over to you. Feel free to comeback and comment about what you discover, ok!
